How to register for VAT

Businesses must register at TAKS' business register, Vinnuskráin, before the start of VAT liable business activities. Complete the registration form and submit it to TAKS at least eight days before the business is due to start.

Foreign businesses which have established VAT liable activity in the Faroe Islands, must register in Vinnuskráin, if their sales of goods or services on the Faroese VAT territory exceeds DKK 50,000 during a 12 month period.

A foreign business which establishes activity in the Faroe Islands without having a place of business or a place of residence in the country, must have a registered representative in the Faroe Islands.
